Antimicrobial Resistance Clinical Reference Center (AMRCRC)
The AMRCRC collects information, analyzes the problems on Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), presents the results in an easy-to-understand manner, and conveys the knowledge essential for AMR measures to the general public and medical staff.
Infectious Disease Response Service (IRS)
The Center has a service which is to dispatch the expert team of infection control. Against infectious disease outbreaks, we provide consultations for medical institutions together with the National Institution of Infectious Disease (NIID): our team advises on clinical response, NIID does on epidemiological and microbiological response. We assess the risk based on the severity and emergency, provide support for diagnosis and treatment, and implement Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). From April 2014 to October 2017, we offered 29 consultations. For example, transfer of suspected MERS cases, clinical management of Zika cases, consultation for facilities on Viral Hemorrhagic Fever, and outbreak investigation of Carbapenem Resistance Enterobacteriaceae.
Immunization Support Center
In cooperation with medical professions, administration and schools, companies, and workplaces, the Immunization Support Center contributes to building a society that is resistant to infectious diseases, where infants, elderly individuals, travelers, and individuals with sicknesses are all protected. We also provide lectures outside of our hospital. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested.
Learn MoreWHO Collaborating Centre (WHOCC)
WHO Collaborating Centres (WHOCC) are designated instituions for the international development of WHO's activities.DCC has been operating as a WHOCC for Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Emerging Infectious Diseases since April, 2017.
Learn MoreGlobal outbreak intelligence capacity building and development coordination center
We work to strengthen the competencies and technical skills of infectious disease experts in Japan to facilitate their overseas activities, while expanding collaboration and networks with international partner organizations engaged in infectious disease emergency management.
Learn MoreResearch
Research Program on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases
As a research group dedicated to establishing an optimal system for the diagnosis and treatment of tropical and parasitic diseases in Japan, we import and store therapeutic agents for rare tropical diseases (orphan drugs) and operate a system to provide them to patients in need.
Learn MoreJ-RIDA
J-RIDA is a registry of imported infectious diseases in Japan. The National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM) is the main facility, and thirteen medical facilities across the country participate in the registry. The study subject is the patients who visit participating facilities after traveling overseas.
Learn MoreJ-PRECOR
J-PRECOR has been in operation since February 2018 as a pre-travel consultation registry throughout Japan. Our hospital is the main facility, and eight facilities participate in the registry as of March 1, 2019. We are recruiting participating facilities (facilities that offer more than 50 travel consultations a year and can conduct an ethical review at the facilities).
Learn MoreMDR-BIRD
We conduct research aimed at collecting carbapenem-resistant bacterial isolates and associated clinical data in order to clarify the relationships among patients’ epidemiological characteristics and prognosis, bacterial strain features, disease burden, and economic impact.
X-pro
In recent years, various emerging infectious diseases—including COVID-19, mpox, and novel influenza—have occurred worldwide. In addition, some infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and measles, have shown signs of resurgence in Japan.
Since July 2022, the Disease Control and Prevention Center (DCC) has been conducting research to collect infectious disease specimens and clinical information in order to rapidly advance studies and product development that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and understanding of the pathogenesis of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
Biobank Integrated Search System
This system allows users to search the availability of specimens stored in the NCGM Biobank for cases that have visited the International Center for Infectious Diseases.
J-GRID
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) has become a global issue. The Japanese National Action Plan on AMR specifies international cooperation as one of its mainstays. The DCC and the Research Institute of NCGM have researched healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and AMR in Vietnam that has a partnership with the NCGM in healthcare technologies, as part of the Japan Initiative for Global Research Network on Infectious Disease (J-GRID). The research started in 2012 as a program under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. It was then transferred to J-GRID under the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) in 2015 and is ongoing.
